It could create new fairies!

“This is fantastic! My armor feels as light as a feather! Even I feel lighter somehow!”

Stolle was noticing the effects but hadn’t yet seen how her armor had transformed. She was waving her arms excitedly.

“It doesn’t feel hot at all, either! And it’s easier to breathe, even more so than without the armor! The air smells nicer, too, somehow!”

Of course everything was better—she was wearing a fairy. It had to be even more beneficial than eating food or drinking beverages touched by fairies or bathing together with them. Ordinary fairies sometimes came into contact with humans and animals when hiding among plants or in the soil, but they wouldn’t completely encase a human like this armor fairy had.

Stolle gracefully bent her body this way and that.

“My mobility is so much better now!”

The cuirass was made of armor scales, so it wasn’t restrictive like a rigid suit of armor.

“Lady Stolle, you should take a look at yourself in a mirror.”

The maids brought in a full-length mirror and set it on the floor in front of Stolle.

“?!” Stolle froze in astonishment when she saw her helmet.

“I’ll call Master Rodin and His Highness,” one of the maids said, leaving the room just as Endelia returned with Mimachi.

Mimachi seemed…deflated, somehow, and quite gloomy. When she saw Stolle, she, too, was struck dumb.

“What do you think, Endelia? Isn’t it exquisite?” Stolle asked.

“Who’d have guessed it was fairy armor?!”

“It’s not only imbued with fairy blessings; there’s more to it… It reminds me of the Realm Weaveguardian.”

Who’s that? I wondered. Did other fairy-birthing armors like this exist?

“It looks like House Menes’s…” Endelia didn’t finish, turning toward me, her eyes narrowed. “Lady Yui… Did you see it?”

I nodded, guessing that she meant the fairy.

Mimachi suddenly returned to her senses and pounced on Stolle.

“It’s… It’s just like in the legends of the Terra people! You’re the Flower-Crowned Armor Maiden! Oh-ho-ho! So the stories were true!”

“What are you doing, Mimachi?! Hands off!”

“But where are your wings? In the legends, the Maiden can fly. I suppose that part was made-up…”

Well, she did have wings, but they were only visible to those with faysight. While Stolle might not be able to fly, if she ran really fast with those wings spread open, maybe she could glide?

Wait… This armor can float in the air!

Now that Stolle was wearing the armor properly, I could finally read the blessings woven into it.

The armor fairy was from a special tribe, but they also had elemental properties like regular fairies, and this one’s seemed to be air and…heat? Once Stolle’s affinity with the armor became sufficiently high, the fairy would not only be able to regulate temperature inside the armor but also conjure flame or icicle spears. It was like a set of magical armor straight out of a fantasy story.

Whoever had blesswoven this armor did an extraordinary job!

Much as it pained me to admit it, I knew I couldn’t make anything like that. Not only because armorsmithing was beyond me, but even the level of craftsmanship that went into the blessed needlework exceeded my capabilities.
